Daniel S. Shaivitz

Daniel S. Shaivitz graduated with Honors from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. During his four years at Rutgers, he was a member of the Men’s Varsity Lacrosse Team, earning conference All-Academic honors.
Dan graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law in May, 2004. While there, Dan was selected as a staff editor and, a year later, associate managing editor of the Journal of Health Care, Law & Policy. His article, “Medicate-to-Execute: Current Trends in Death Penalty Jurisprudence and the Perils of Dual Loyalty,” was published in the Journal in 2004. During law school, Dan clerked for Drechsler, Larkin & Walters, P.C., a firm which focused on insurance defense litigation.
Following law school, Dan continued to clerk for Drechsler, Larkin & Walters through 2004 and later worked as a contract attorney. In 2005, Dan moved to the Leder Law Group, LLC where he represented insurance companies and analyzed commercial general liability policies in insurance coverage litigation. He also defended property owners in toxic tort litigation, specifically lead paint poisoning claims.
Dan currently focuses his practice on civil litigation, auto insurance coverage, and family law. He is licensed to practice in the State of Maryland and the United States District Court for the District of Maryland. He anticipates being licensed in the District of Columbia in the near future. Dan is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Montgomery County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.
